Global Cook Health Clinic was founded by Yvonne Conteh, a dedicated healthcare advocate born in Freetown, Sierra Leone. Yvonne holds a B.A. in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia and a B.S.N. in Nursing from Marymount University. With over twelve years of clinical experience spanning medical-surgical care, neurosurgery ICU, burn ICU, addiction treatment, and psychiatric health, Yvonne brings both depth and compassion to her work.
Her journey is deeply personal. After losing her father and grandmother to complications from diabetes and hypertension—two largely preventable conditions—Yvonne transformed her grief into purpose. She launched this nonprofit clinic with a clear mission: to combat the rising tide of these chronic illnesses through culturally informed care, community empowerment, and preventive education.
Through this initiative, Yvonne aims to ensure that no one else has to endure the pain her family did—proving that with knowledge, exercise and community, lasting change is possible.
Recognizing the significant impact of diabetes and hypertension, our clinic utilizes a multifactorial approach to prevention and management—combining exercise, nutrition, cultural values, and family support to promote healthier lifestyles.
At Global Cook Health Clinic, our multidisciplinary team is committed to addressing the growing burden of diabetes and hypertension in developing and emerging countries. Comprising healthcare professionals, community advocates, and wellness experts, we focus on accessible, sustainable strategies for prevention and management.
